Mrs. Bakk's Class

**Remember to read for at least 10 minutes each night!!**

This week we will be working on the diphthongs oi and -oy.  Diphthongs are two vowels put together that make a new sound.  Oi is usually found in the beginning or middle of a syllable and -oy is usually found at the end of a syllable.  Have your first grader come up with more or words to share with the group.  The red words this week are mother, father, brother and watch.  Be sure to practice arm tapping the red words.

Continue reading to your child and having them read to you.  Don't stress over the words; if they miss one, give it to them and move on.  Reading at home should be an enjoyable experience, keep it fun!

*Please check out the link below to the First Grade Sounds and Symbols, there you can also find the red words for first grade.
